Kei Loon [Qi Lin] is a mythical creature belonging to the Taoist Goddess of the West (Xi Hwang Mu). Sometimes called a Chinese Unicorn, the Kei Loon [Qi Lin] has the head of a dragon, the body of a horse and the scales of the carp. It is associated with extreme good fortune and happy blessings. According to Feng Shui literature, Fu Xi saw the Kei Loon emerged from the river after the great flood. Marked on the back of Dragon Headed Horse were the markings that were used to derive the Earlier Heaven Bagua, the ultimate symbol of Taoism. The Kei Loon [Qi Lin] is believed to have great protective abilities. This mythical creature is believed to be able to protect an individual from all forms of harm and danger. Traditionally, the Kei Loon [Qi Lin] are placed in pairs, guarding the front entrance to the house. They serve as powerful heavenly guardians that can ward off wandering evil spirits.
